This account and data deletion policy applies to the website, products and services offered under the brand WAAPI, operated by WAAPI (“we”, “us”, “our”), acting as the business. By accessing or using our services you agree to this account and data deletion policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the services.
1. How to request deletion — step by step
- Sign in to your WAAPI panel.
- Go to Settings → Account and choose Delete account.
- Confirm the request. We send a verification link to your registered email address.
- Click the link to confirm. Deletion begins immediately on confirmation.
If you cannot sign in, email us from your registered email address at support@thewaapi.com with the subject “Delete my account and data”. We verify every request before acting, to protect your data from fraudulent deletion, and complete verified requests within 30 days.
2. What gets deleted
On confirmed deletion we remove or irreversibly anonymise your personal data and service content from active systems within 30 days: profile and login credentials, contacts, conversations and messages, templates, campaigns, flows, uploaded media and files, connected-channel tokens, and account settings.
3. What we must retain
We retain a limited set of records where law requires: invoices, payments and tax records (statutory retention period, see the Data Retention Policy), records needed to resolve a live dispute or enforce our agreement, and security logs for their normal window. Retained data stays protected and is deleted when its retention purpose ends.
4. Backups
Data inside encrypted backups is purged on the normal backup rotation cycle after deletion from active systems.
5. Outstanding balances
Deletion does not waive amounts due, and unused prepaid wallet or credit balance is not refundable — see the Refund & Cancellation Policy.
6. Data held by connected platforms
Deleting your WAAPI account does not delete data held by a third-party platform you connected. Your message history inside WhatsApp, your Google Business Profile, your Facebook or Instagram account and your ad-account records are controlled by those platforms. To remove data there:
- Meta (WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, Ads) — remove our app from Settings → Business Integrations in your Meta account, then use Meta’s own deletion tools.
- Google (Business Profile, Ads) — revoke our access at myaccount.google.com/permissions, then use Google’s own deletion tools.
Revoking access at the provider immediately stops us receiving any further data from it, and we delete the tokens we held for it.
Governing law & jurisdiction
This document is governed by the laws of India. For operators in India this includes the Information Technology Act, 2000, the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act), the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021 and the Consumer Protection Act, 2019. Where we serve customers in other jurisdictions we honour applicable local requirements, including the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), to the extent they apply. Courts at India have exclusive jurisdiction, subject to any non-waivable consumer rights in your country of residence.
